J Ryan was most recently seen playing Molina in the Kiss of the Spider Woman Tribute to Hal Prince, John Kander, and Chita Rivera at the 2018 Chita Awards. The tribute was produced by the American Dance Machine and directed by Lloyd Culbreath with musical direction by Jeff Saver and Eugene Gwozdz. He can be seen playing Brandon in Episode Gabe in 4B on 190 Lorimer, a comedy series directed by Dustin Knoop and now available online at https://www.pleasantlysurprised.tv/   The show is currently making the rounds at festivals: Hollywood Comedy Shorts, accepted to LA Webfest Class of 2018, nominated for Best Comedy Series at the Indie Series Awards LA, nominated and won at Festigious for Best Director and Best Web Series, The Best Web Series - Official Selection (2017), Miami Short Film Festival - Official Selection (2017).  He can also be seen playing Jack in the Bollywood film titled Sanju directed by Rajkumar Hirani and scheduled for U.S. release June 29, 2018, Casting Director 2 in Greek Honey Show (pilot), and Fashion Director in Love in NY for TV China. He also is the voice of John Pickard in the Bachelors of Broken Hill Farm documentary directed by Erika Yeomans. And you will see him soon in the Mobiline App ad campaign.

J Ryan has been seen touring across the country in the national tour of Mel Brook's THE PRODUCERS, directed by Nigel West and choreographed by Lauren Kadel, with original direction and choreography by Susan Stroman. While on tour, he understudied Roger Debris and stepped into the role during the tour’s engagements in Pueblo and Phoenix. He had another chance to step in to the role of Carmen in another production of THE PRODUCERS at the Eldorado Theater in Reno, NV. In the spring of 2017 he stepped in to the role of Venda in THE WORKSHOP, a workshop at the Manhattan Theater Club. In the spring of 2018 he had the privilege to work with Doug Katsaros where he had the chance to step into Venda's shoes again in the first recording for THE WORKSHOP.

 J Ryan worked with Ann Reinking as a featured performer in the National Tour of FOSSE and also in the International Tour of FOSSE starring Ben Vereen and Ruthie Henshal. Some highlights of the International Tour were performing at Place des Arts in Montreal and at Theatre du Chatelet in Paris. FOSSE was the first American Musical to play at the Chatelet; it received rave reviews and its success paved the way for more American Musicals to play there. Also while in France, J Ryan performed with Ben Vereen and cast on France’s TV show Vive le Monde. J Ryan was part of the SCOTT AND ZELDA workshop written by Frank Wildhorn and choreographed by Ann Reinking at the Broadway Theater Project. He was part of the Dodger Stages workshop of DOCTOR DOLITTLE, choreographed by Rob Ashford and directed by Glenn Casale. He performed in the 2005 Fall Season at the Tony Award-winning Utah Shakespeare Festival in PIPPIN, directed and choreographed by Marc Robin, and ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL, directed by J.R. Sullivan.

J Ryan has danced back-up for pop sensation, Deborah Gibson, in her
one- woman show, POP GOES BROADWAY choreographed by Eddie Bennett. In 2008-2009, J Ryan was the Dance Captain and Swing for the North American Tour of the WIZARD OF OZ, directed by Nigel West and choreographed by Leigh Constantine. During the tour, J Ryan had the privilege of performing at Madison Square Garden and at the National Arts Center in Ottawa for Prime Minister Stephen Harper.  He is involved in workshops for the Verdon Fosse Estate.

At 19 years old he apprenticed with Laura Alonso’s Ballet Clasico de la Havana in Havana, Cuba. He went on to dance with Wes Chapman’s Alabama Ballet as a company member, American Repertory Ballet dancing soloist and principal roles and as a Principal Soloist with Ballet Concierto de Puerto Rico in San Juan. He has been a Principal Guest Artist with Alabama Dance Theater, North West Florida Ballet, Portland Ballet, Mobile Ballet and Western Ballet Theater of Puerto Rico, CoDa21 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Ajkun Ballet Theater in NYC, and Les Ballets Grandiva, to name a few. The Ministry of Culture of Puerto Rico invited him to be the Premiere Guest Artist at the 2010 International Dance Festival in San Juan where he danced the Rose in Fokine’s famous “Le Spectre de la Rose” and the Young Man in Roland Petit’s “Le Jeune Homme et la Mort” in the Festival’s Gala performance. This was the first time that either ballet had been danced on the island of Puerto Rico.

J Ryan has been ballet master for Tracie Stanfield’s Synthesis Dance Project in New York City. He was a company teacher for both the National and International tours of Fosse, as well as Ajkun Ballet Theater in NYC. He has taught ballet based on the David Howard Technique and principals of Hilary Cartwright's Yoga Narada throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, South Africa, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Indonesia. He has been on faculty at summer programs for American Academy of Ballet, Synthesis Dance Project, Western Ballet Theater of Puerto Rico, Ajkun Ballet Theater, Alabama Dance Theater, Northwest Florida Ballet, Southeastern Alabama Dance Theater, Mobile Ballet, Seiskaya Ballet, the International Dance Festival in New York City, and Joffrey Ballet NY. In 2007, J Ryan was invited to adjudicate for the South African Dance Championships in Durban, South Africa. While there he taught Cape Town City Ballet II. He taught at the Jakarta Intercultural School in Jakarta, Indonesia.  While there he also taught for the Interscholastic Association of Southeast Asian Schools Dance Exchange. In the summer of 2016, he had the pleasure to adjudicate and teach in Mazatlan, Mexico at Danza Sinaloa Concurso Internacional.

J Ryan has adjudicated and taught master classes for Dance Educators of America, Dance Masters of America, World Dance Pageant, Starpower, Platinum National Dance Competition and World Dance Championship. He is on guest faculty at Ballet Arts, Broadway Dance Center and Peridance Capezio Center in New York City.

J Ryan was very honored to be part of and choreograph for Israel Rodriguez’s documentary about the life of Katia Garza titled, “Katia Garza: My Life in Dance.” He can also be seen as Jack in the upcoming Bollywood biopic film titled “Dutt.
